M6.5 ? Is there really such a thing ? Never even heard of it.

ISO M* screws preferred sizes in this range are M6 and M8. In
addition, you have "second choice" sizes like M7. You won't find
any M7 at your local hardware store (big or small) but screw
specialists stock them. At least where I live.

BUT... An unqualified M size implies coarse pitch (for M7,
1.0 mm). M7 x 0.75 is a fine pitch variant and those are always
twice as hard to find as their coarse pitch counterparts.

Plus "nut" implies normal height and you're probably looking for
a reduced height nut (jam nut).
