Thanks - best to learn from the mistakes of others.

Thought about Altitude's solution to making a sleeve, and then realised 
that I can, of course, make my own knobs anyway. I've got suitable brass 
and aluminium rod stock - just need to bore for the shaft and then 
drill/tap a little hole for the grub screw. Good lathe practice for me!
