[sdiy] Nut Question

For the 6mm shaft thing, I use a 1/4" thin wall brass tube and run a 6mm
reamer through it to make a bushing to make up the difference. Otherwise,
your 1/4" shaft knob will be pretty lopsided when you screw it down.

As far as the nut goes, its probably a M7x0.75 thread. Metric threads go
half and whole sizes (M6, M6.5, M7 etc) with the whole sizes being much more
common

Subject: [sdiy] Nut Question

Hi Folks

I have a rotary encoder which will be used to set parameters on my ADSR
unit. It lacks a washer/nut to fix it to a panel.

The dimensional drawing shows the OD of the thread as 6.8mm. However,
what it does NOT say is what size nut/washer I require. Can anyone who
understands the Black Art of Fasteners advise?

Whilst I have a knob for it, it's a rather ugly, bulky thing. Given a
6mm shaft, do I need to source a 6mm knob, or do 1/4" knobs also work on
this shaft size?

I though of resorting to hot glue, but thought I might as well take the
correct route ;-)

Cheers

M
