[sdiy] analog joystick source?

Are these joysticks, which allow "X=max AND Y=max"?

To my experience the average joystick has a circle shaped mask, which 
allows a maximum position in X direction only if the Y position is 
center. But for real useful CV control I would want a rectangular shaped 
mask, which allows to set both values to maximum at the same time.
