If you routinely run clockable hardware synced to your DAW, you  
should check out the Innerclock Sync Lock. It puts out midi clock,  
din sync, and +5 volt 16th-note pulses simultaneously, locked to a  
dedicated audio track in your DAW. It is rock solid - it has ended  
years of frustration for me!
The 5 volt pulse out might be just what you need for your step- 
sequencer..
