Don't forget that you will get variations in devices even from the same
manufacturer, and same batch.
Consider for a moment grading out transistors to get a "matched pair".
Ideally a design will run the parts somwhere in the middle of the device
characteristics while allowing the variations to still be inside acceptable
limits.
