made MIDI splitter driving an ESQ-1. Dropped notes etc. But if I patch
it after going thru another keyboard's thru, it works fine. And I don't
have any (intentional) ground connections in the splitter. Never looked
into it more after I found the quick "fix"...

Now that I've looked into this a bit more - I'm finding there's quite a few people that have this same problem with many different bits of kit - but this same THRU solution seems to work all round.

Harry B's Grounding theory and Tom W's resistor value theory both make sense to me - but loads of people have used this Doepfer module (and all the other types of MIDI-CV converters that people have had this same problem with) - and not experienced any troubles.

There's a couple of other modules from this same acquisition that are properly dead. I'm talking to Andy at Emis (UK Doepfer distributor) about a repair so I'll throw the A-190 in with them and see what he says - if there's any solution, I'll report back.

Thanks all - appreciated as always.
