As a total stab in the dark... maybe the cap is meant to length the pulse to make sure it's long enough to correctly trigger other various assorted Buchla circuits that take triggers?

Maybe in his original design, the pulse was long enough for the pulser to trigger itself, but not other things, so he added the cap to fix that.

Again, that's a major stab in the dark. Out of the various circuits I've adapted, the pulser is one of the ones that I understand the least, which is why I was particularly glad when I got it working, since I don't understand its operation enough to seriously debug it.
