I finally picked up my Electronic Goldmine cheapo slider boards across the
border, and now I understand why they were surplused.  There are enormous
solder blobs on the back, some of which are shorting out several adjacent
sliders.  It would appear as if the automatic soldering machine was having a
fit of some kind that day.  Rather than fix the boards, I guess it was
cheaper to throw them away and start over.  It's pretty sad commentary on
our throwaway world, I think.
