A couple of years ago one of my senior design teams did a hybrid synth using PICs. They provided their source code (although they'd be the first to tell you that it's not necessarily the best example to follow and their code could be improved):

Also, it's not AVR or PIC code, but you might be able to learn a lot by looking at Lynx Crowe's code for the Buchla 700 and OB-Mx:

(Note some of the GaTech IT systems are down today for some fixing-up-stuff-before-start-of-semester maintenance; if you can't get to one of my pages, try again much later today or tomorrow).

(It should also be noticed that Lynx had some significant health issues a while back and as a result never got a chance to clean up the OB-Mx code; also, it's just the code for the voice boards. I think someone else did the code for the user interface).
