Hi folks,

I thought I'd drop an email to the list telling you about me a wee bit
before getting into any discussions.

I'm based in the UK and have been fiddling about with electronic music
since I was at school about a quarter of a century ago ;-) My early
dabblings are lost to the mists of time (maybe not, if I can find my
stack of old TDK D90s) but involved homemade oscillators, filters and
guitar effects including a homemade tape echo, and various beepy
electronic toys and a ZX Spectrum.

Subsequently I've fiddled about in a vaguely musical way with assorted
synthesizers and samplers, often buying knackered ones to repair. I've
always been keen on homebrew electronics, though, and have been
experimenting with AVR-based hybrid synths with varying degrees of
success. I've also written a couple of software synthesizer LADSPA
plugins, that I really ought to get back to and finish.

Now to spam some links:
http://www.gjcp.net/media/filter.jpg <- "dead bug" construction Steiner
Synthacon-style filter
http://www.gjcp.net/media/filtertest.ogg <- sounds okay, recording is
terrible - watch out for the loud self-oscillation about a minute in!
Sounds better with a bit of reverb, towards the end.
http://www.gjcp.net/~gordonjcp/mp3s/fmtoy.ogg <- Arduino producing
two-op FM synthesis
http://www.gjcp.net/~gordonjcp/mp3s/arduinosample.ogg <- Arduino
producing basic saw and square waves, and an Amen break!
http://www.gjcp.net/~gordonjcp/mp3s/glitchamen.ogg <- Software-defined
circuit bending! Based on the Arduino code in the previous example.

Anyway, hello, and maybe I'll see some of you at Synth-DIY later this
year ;-)
