I recently scored a bunch of packages of Lazertran for $10 each, and it
turns out that the seller lived 10 minutes from my house, so I just drove
over and picked them up!

However, the only serious thing I ever bid on was my cherry-red curly maple
Brian Moore electric guitar.  A professional acquaintance of mine who
collects fine china and uses Ebay a lot did the bidding for me.  Apparently
he submitted the winning bid in the last 2 seconds.  That was about 10 years
ago.  That sort of thing gives me the willies, so I tend to steer clear of
it myself.
