I have some reservations about this method, the one octave shift might not
be enough to tune accurately for some VCOs. Its a cool idea but you would
have to choose the tuning point (like 440Hz or 1khz whatever) carefully.
I like to tune about four octaves apart. I use a digital reference (top octave
generator and divider chain) and a source of precision 1V steps. I set the
scope for X-Y display.
Its accurate but not too easy... :^(

That's a very cool VCO tuning method - it's just in time too, I'm about
