[sdiy] ESD Wrist Strap?

Hmmm.... spent the holidays with my MIL's new BF, who is a retired EE. (How's that for a string of abbreviations!) Anyhow... he and I got to talking about static control and he convinced me that I should probably be using an anti-static wrist strap. I have never had a problem thus far, but I do sit on a cloth covered office chair in a very dry basement while assembling stuff, and given how cheap many wrist straps are, I figure it couldn't really hurt. So... can anyone recommend a good wrist strap? The selection from Mouser is so large that it's a bit mind-boggling (makes you wish you could sort by popularity). Also... (newbie alert!) where does one typically plug or clip the other end?
