Perhaps you might consider a tracking power supply design that ensures
that both rails go down together when one goes down or is lost.
I have not used SSM2164, but have seen NE5532 in some cases draw
excessive current, or even burn up, if one of one of the power supply
rails is lost while the other remains on.
