That's how it appears on the schematic I'm looking at :-).  Quite 
strange.  I'm getting levels that sound like it's in mono mode with the 
volume slider on the left by the speaker there having control over BOTH 
speakers!!  The right volume does absolutely nothing that I can detect.  
The pan again repeats the function of the left speaker volume slider 
basically.  yes the pan works smoothly.  I know.  Bizarre eh? Maybe 
someone jacked something around because an amp went down on one side or
