Oh - if your power supply (and its stability) is a known quantity then you might not gain as much of an advantage.
Having said that - I have used multiple LM317s wher I needed multiple precision voltages and power rails.
I've not used either of the 431 variants that have been mentioned but I have been accused of overkill when it comes to power supplies and voltage references.
