Eagle started off life in Germany, hence the use of European standard
symbols in the demo example. The default RCL library has everything in
both EU and US/legacy format. I was brought up on legacy symbols (from
the Admiralty Handbook of Wireless Telegraphs, amongst others) but was
forced to go EU at college. I've persisted with EU RCL symbols, but have
gone back to US logic gates as I can never remember what the EU (ISO?)
ones are!
