These connectors are fine but not very cheap...
A benefit is that there are many manufacturers for that standard connectors.

That's not 100% correct as there are also prototype boards for card edge connectors - we used 
It in our company before we switched to the DIN 41612 connectors.

But remember that these boards are not that common and higher priced.
So if you want to build a complete system it ca happen that the more expensive DIN connectors 
Together with the cheaper standard strip or vector boards are cheaper...
