[sdiy] IT'S ALIVE! Igor quick, the townspeople are coming with torches!

Hi Rutger,

In general, the Synthacon used simplified versions of the Synthasystem
modules. There were cost concerns, so features were removed and the circuits
were simplified.

In comparing the two schematics, the diode ladder in the Synthasystem used
10 diodes to the Synthacon 6, it has an additional output stage, and the
feedback loop is different. I find the resonance to be much more friendly in
the Synthacon filter. It still has a bite if you want it, but it can be
dialed in with more control.

I have a CGS Synthacon clone, which is great, but I really like the
Synthasystem filter better.

David

I found
-- your video demo of the Synthasystem VCF. How exactly does it relate to
the more
-- common (for DIY) Synthacon VCF? Is it just a component differences? I
have a
-- Synthacon VCF clone in a DIY synth and I'm considering to build another
one, but I'd like
-- a better controlled resonance and less noise. When using the filter in
LPF mode, it seems
-- that unconnected HPF and BPF inputs pick up noise. Grounding them only
partly solves
-- the noise problem.
