Yeah, that approach works too.  Anything to remove the "voodoo" factor
(e.g., "there's just something magical about the 741 in that circuit").

However, I would counter this by saying that SPICE can also be a powerful
and very convenient teaching tool for demonstrating many of the concepts
Neil mentions.
