I guess the insulating material on these is paper or plastic (all I've 
ever seen) so knocks out my favourite method of fixing fatigued metal - 
raise to red heat with blowtorch. Annealing is your friend ;-)

Then again, if it can be disassembled, this could be an option. But 
probably not!
