I decided not to get one as what really defines C for AVR is the library 
support (unless you want to re-invent the wheel in a very painful way.)

I've found the documentation for avr-libc to be pretty good:

...sufficiently so that I'm no longer in the market for an AVR book. 
(And coupled with the info available from AVRFreaks.)
