[sdiy] open source Nord Modular?

So many people love the nord modular, DSP in a box with an editor, its
a great concept for music production and it makes for a stable box to
tote to shows. My question is why isnt there an open source
alternative?

An open source editor, it would be fully extendable and easy to customize.

A dsp box, midi i/o audio i/o even interface elements like knobs or
pots even pads, buttons and keys if one so wished.
