I use a big steel school office desk, the kind with drawers on each side,
and a large formica surface.  My department was throwing it out, and I
snagged it.  It's perfect for electronics in the garage, plus its roomy
enough for my pseudo-MOTM cabinets and Truth monitors.  I keep all my parts
and tools in the drawers.

I would suggest hitting up the local university or college for surplus
furniture.  Schools are constantly throwing away that sort of stuff, and
much of it is in more or less pristine condition.
