[sdiy] Old electronics magazines

In the UK, the Maplin magazine used to have some good stompbox and synth stuff, though that was not its main focus. Don't know if it's turned up on the web anywhere yet. I still have a soft spot for the autowah circuit from Maplin. It was a LM13700-based 12dB/oct SVF driven by an envelope follower, and had a very aggressive "waccawacca" sound.
