[sdiy] O'scope recommend - remove the graticule

Hiya,

I'm looking for recommendations on oscilloscopes which have removable
graticules (the grid lines over the display).
I'm helping a friend put together a video synth system, beginning with
vector rescanning and the results would be best without lines over the
screen.
Many modern scopes have the lines actually etched into the display tube,
but I'm sure that quite a lot of older 'scopes may have removable
graticules - basically we don't want to go purchasing 'blind'.

There was a thread started about such things at the MuffWiggler site -
http://muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29973
- here the Tektronix T-922 was recommended but these seem to be US
models in general. And there's not much more for suggestions..

On a similar note - does anyone know a good 2nd hand 'scope shop in the UK?
I know there are always lots on Ebay, but so many of them are being sold
by people who don't know how they work - it is hit & miss as to whether
you'll get something any good.

Thanks for any help,
Tom
