Sounds like Hi-Fi snake oil to me. For one thing, who says that
vintage capacitors were engineered for sound? Is this just anecdotal
B.S., or were there really dedicated lines of audio caps back in the
day? I would think that capacitors have always been an electronic
component designed for a wide variety of uses, and the vast majority
of that product would have gone to radios and power supplies, with
quality audio amplifiers being a relatively small market. I just can't
imagine the sales numbers would have justified such a great emphasis
in sound quality on the capacitor production lines of the 50's, but I
could be wrong. Also, I would think there are relatively few caps
directly in the audio path, even in a vintage tube amp.
Tim (born in '59, so I don't have a lot of memories of the 50's) Servo
