[sdiy] LinnDrum LM-2 power supply stuff

Hi all -

I've just inherited an LM-2 LinnDrum. That's the good news. The bad news is, the NiCd's leaked all over the power supply board and the transformer. Luckily none of the other electronics were touched, but the power board is pretty well melted and there's corrosion halfway up the side of the transformer...

Is there a universal way to test an xformer, aside from powering it up (a dodgy proposition by the looks of this one) and measuring voltage? Perhaps I could salvage that much and then come up with another solution for the PSU board.

Or. maybe just find a switched-mode supply that will fit in there? The unit needs +/-5V and +/-15V - nothing esoteric as best I can tell - but I don't know what the current needs are.

Thoughts, suggestions?
