Actually, I need to revise that. At some point the circuit developed a short they couldn't track down, so they rebuilt it, and in the process used 2N3904s instead of the CA3083. The peak-to-peak sawtooth swing is now around 850 mV; it used to be more like 200 mV. We don't know if that was related to changing the transistors, or if there was an earlier error in their construction that they unknowingly fixed when they rebuilt it.
