I designed a 5U programmable digital module using a risc basic stamp as a
follow-on to the PSIM. All the documentation is on-line including all my
programs. It requires no development environment other than a RS-232 port
to connect to the module for programming. It's reasonably fast for CV
processing and handles MIDI just fine. It might give somebody some ideas of
what they want in a programmable digital module. The base design is at
http://modularsynthesis.com/cvs/cvs.htm I have expanded it using the I2C
interface to add external peripherals such as another 16 A/D for controls or
an external keypad.

Programs are listed at http://modularsynthesis.com/programs/programs.htm
Lately I've been using it mostly for sequencing and utilize the eeprom for
parameter setting.

I find I find the LCD very important and useful. It is at
http://modularsynthesis.com/cvs/cvs2.htm

I often find I use this module for a this-to-that adapter. I'll be doing
something and I'll need to interface some vintage MIDI gear and find I need
an external controller on a specific channel or some special MIDI
translation. Since its Basic and I have a large code template, I can
usually modify or write a new program in very few lines. Lately I've been
emulating other modules instead of buying them, like a trapezoid generator,
multi-channel sample&hold, or a JAG. I've migrated some of the programs to
AVR micros when I need a dedicated solution.
