[sdiy] PIC-based Digital Oscillator question

Hey all,
I'm finally getting around to working on another synth after moving and getting a full-time job. I need oscillators. This project is basically an exercise in using what I have on hand. And what I have on hand is a pile of PIC microcontrollers. Now I'm fairly certain I can manage ramp, triangle, sine, and square waves in the Arduino environment and possibly C++, but the PIC assembly language is giving me some problems and my google-fu is failing me on finding examples of DCOs or NCOs or even a "for dummies" tutorial on the subject. I could use some help. A point in the right direction. Examples. even an ear for my eventual tide of stupid questions.
Thanks,
-Ian
