If your device has a UART acting as a MIDI port (which I'm guessing will be
not uncommon here), code up a printf routine that sticks F0 on the start and
F7 on the end of every string, before sending it via MIDI.
Then capture the MIDI output to a .SYX file, rename it to .TXT and read it
in notepad.
A pretty handy diagnostic tool.
