include a rug pre burnt with a soldering iron, a bag of assorted colours
of snippets of plastic sleeving. Then add a selection of wire offcuts
with a few resistors and blobs of solder. The contents may be strewn on
the desk and the floor to your taste.  

The old atmosphere will almost be complete:)
