The rotary encoder may have a 360 degree rotation but the value represented by the LEDs will typically
have a minimum and a maximum. These points are represented by the two ends of the 300 degree arc,
as for a conventional potentiometer's range. This is how the LED encoders work on the Nord Lead 3 and
Nord modular G2. Of course, for representing values without a a minimum or maximum, such as
waveforms or operating modes, then a 360 LED ring may well be preferrable.
