Dan,
There's an archive somewhere and we've done this a lot, Gordon's
explanation covers what you need.
If you want to see some code you can download the oscillator code used
in the monowave, which only outputs a single bit.
However, I'm happy to share the code for the oscillators I developed
for Tempest, Defender and Zira. These take things to the next step,
and include lookup tables in Flash memory.
That said, the code is in assembly language, but is commented :-)
