Allow me to up the ante:

Increasing Q also increases gain, which causes clipping. Would it be 
advantageous to place another VCA in front of the filter to decrease the signal 
for increasing Q? Paia did this (manual Q pot, not VCA) on their 4700 series 
filter.

I'm in the process of organizing yet another 2164-based filter module, and
I'd like to do a little survey, if I may.  Here's the question:

How important is voltage-controlled resonance to you?  Do you make much use
of it, and if so, how?
