VC RES is very useful, or more accurately, it's one of those functions 
I really miss if it isn't there.....

Resonance mapped to KBD tracking and ADSR are 2 subtle but effective 
uses, as well as modulating RES over time to change the character of a 
sequence. It can often come into it's own when modeling sounds from 
other synths, or attempting to re-create various filter responses.
