I don't know how many of you watch the show "House" but they had a recent
episode that just threw me for a loop; where they were doing realtime brain
mapping and thought visualization etc. Its like "what??? you can't do
that!!!".
I was just expressing your first statement - the engineering to map the
Emotiv control signal via OSC to midi could be done easily if you have the
time and money. Achieving accuracy and good response time is another matter
completely. The Emotiv approach seems to be pattern matching of signal
patterns, and pretty granular. A theremin pitch control is trivial (like
the guy's Mattel demos) but a simultaneous pitch and volume theremin mind
controlled - ugh - no way. Show me.
I don't really know where this all needs to go. It is likely that even with
a quantum jump in technology a thought-controlled piano piece will be worse
than a "hand-interfaced" one...
