If your shape pot has a little bit of residual resistance at the minimum
setting, that will take care of the oscillations.  Barry Klein and I have
been messing around with your circuit off-line, and his (superior)
suggestion is to put a large resistor (say 1M) in a negative feedback loop
on the input opamp.  That gives the opamp the trickle of feedback it needs
to stabilize, without compromising linearity or complicating the panel
wiring.

In any case, a very cool and elegant circuit!
