[sdiy] Shipping Containers

The one I took a shot of was going for $135, though I might be able to talk it down. They might argue it's in pretty good shape to warrant the price though - others I've seen have been nigh mummified in packing slips, warning labels and skuff marks.

Did some poking around, and while I'm not sure if this is the exact model, it's close:

Main ish is getting square 'pegs' (5U modules) into the round edged inside 'hole'. Think some kind of face frame would do it, and then securing that to the plastic in a way that won't tear into it in the long run.

Anyone think a box within a box would offer good support or just be overkill? I'm not going to tour anytime soon, if ever, but I'd wana take the system out for a spin now and again.

Here's a xsection: http://www.cases-cases.com/shipping/index.html

As for the TinyURL, it's just a habitual thing for what amounts to cosmetic reasons. I'd have the hyperlinked it if the list supported it, though if it's sour to some folks I'll keep things to the full URL herein out.

In terms of eating up the internet, it's not as bad as getting 10MB PowerPoint slideshows (or even larger Word docs) that my mom forwarded to her entire address book though!

Regards,

_Kyle
