I use 'Servisol' a UK spray product. For leads that may spend time just
hanging up, I treat them from the start. I use a nylon 'Pan scrubber' on
light corrosion, not wire wool; once you've broken through the surface
plating they'll just keep on corroding, and the jack sockets themselves do a
pretty good job of wearing out the plate as it is
