A local BC company called MG Chemicals makes a lubricating contact cleaner
product called Super Contact Cleaner with Poly Phenol Ether (model number
801B). It is available as a liquid, an aerosol, or in an applicator pen.
They claim that one application onto gold contacts protects them for life.
It's less than half the price of Deoxit, and the guy at my friendly
neighborhood electronics store (which carries both products) says it's every
bit as good, but just doesn't have the name recognition. I think I'll give
that a go. I'm thinking I'll buy the liquid, dip the plugs into it, and use
Q-tips to swab it around inside the jacks. That seems like less of a hassle
than the spray (?).
