What I consider to be better sounding transformers aren't necessarily
available off the shelf and their construction documentation is usually
regarded as trade secret.  A couple of the larger audio equipment
manufacturers have twisted the arm of their suppliers to stop selling
popular transformer configurations to DIYers.  To be fair some DIYers cloned
equipment that was still in producion by the original manufacturer (or some
form thereof) and made boards, enclosures, and part kits available in
reasonably large quantity.

But back to the subject matter at hand.  Here's a list of transformer
