My colleague Prof. Marshall Leach passed away yesterday. He was an exemplary teacher, and a mentor to students and faculty alike. You would be hard pressed to find faculty in my department who cared more about students than Marshall. (I sat in on Marshall Leach's ECE3050 Analog Electronics class last year; his mastery of the subject and how to teach it well was inspiring.) I often went to him for advice in figuring out various synthesizer circuits; much of what I learned from him went into my Electronics for Music Synthesis class. 

Some of you might know his work on the "Leach amp" - other might know his work on loudspeaker modeling. In any case, he left quite a legacy:
