Hi Dan,
as I know most of the additional modules of book 2 have been released by
elektor as stand alone projects first, then adapted for the Formant as synth
modules. Unfortunately I don't know the issues.
I built the voltage- (waveform-) processor, the parametric equalizer, the
ring modulator (which is also part of the MSS2000 book), the voltage
controlled LFO (well I added voltage control of pulswidth also) and
integrated them into my MSS2000, see also:

As I know book 2 does not exist in english or french. I consider all modules
as very useful, and my personal favorite is the parametric equalizer,
although it adds some noise to the sound, but the spectrum enhancements are
great, one of the most important sound forming modules in my opinion.
