Thanks very much for this stuff Marc and Robin.
I have had one of these for a few good many years now, and I did a few
minor changes to mine as well.
I replaced the RCA plugs on the back with real jack plugs. This was
quite easy. I had small enough jack sockets that I just bolted them in
and ran an inch of wire to the board. The back of the case sits about
1mm shy of closing, but that was because I didn't file out the arch a
bit - I think the sockets were ones salvaged from a broken Yamaha Rx5
drum machine - they are mostly black, but with some red plastic on one
side.
I replaced some of the LEDs with modern LEDs, but because they have
different voltage drops, the way their circuit works didn't agree with
it too much. I wouldn't recommend this unless you had the proper
schematic so you can calculate changes in all the resistors (not just
the current limiting resistor - it seems more complicated than that).
Paul Perry has (or at least had in Feb of 07 when I took this photo)
one that was modded to be a double-tasked unit

free to copy these images to your site or link to them).
The audio has a slight compressing quality as it goes into the unit as
well, which also adds to the uniqueness of the sound, I think.
Again, no idea what's going on there, but would love to see a schematic.
