i hear you, brother. in my engineering field (software) most of one's 
time is spent reading code rather than writing it, yet it seems most 
CS courses teach mainly origination. it's like teaching literature by 
writing it.

so far, statistically, i'd rather have a linguistics or language grad 
come and work for me than a CS grad.
