Well, there are quite some Theremin virtuosos.

There a many synths that provide visual feedback (mostly by LEDs).  
The bass pedal I built is an example. You can latch keys and unlatch  
them by pressing other keys. If there were no LEDs showing the status  
of the keys it would be very difficult to keep track which key is  
latched and which is not.
