Come on, the DX7 wasn't that bad. There were others that were far worse.
I for one spent many hours fiddling with it back then. Because the  
DX7 had so many buttons, accesing a parameter just took one button  
press in most cases. Then the parameter could be altered with the  
data entry slider. And from everywhere single operators could be en-/ 
disabled with a single button.
